Admiration for Lady Gaga
This isn't a "Witchy" post, but I'm puting it up anyways, because, the other half of the time, I'm a regular person too.
I have recently (within the last, say, 6 months) discovered a great artist known as "Lady Gaga". Yes, many have heard of her, and personally I think she is a VERY talented. Yes, she is a little out there, but she's artistic in her own way. I have never been one for art (at least the stuff that hangs and collects dust in museums around the world), but I see this girl (woman) as a very artistic and talented person, not only musically, but visually too.
However, I have now discovered a newfound admiration for this artist. I liked her before, but this is newfound. The video linked is her live version of "Paparazzi" of which she performed at the 2009 MTV Music Awards. I didn't watch the awards (because frankly, awards shows don't interest me as much as they used to in the past). But after seeing an interview of hers on Barbara Walters, showing a teensy glimps of her performance at the awards show...I just had to see the entire performance.
Many may see this as an overly done performance, and grotesque in it's material, but artistically I think it's brilliant. I can see how many can not understand what the song is supposed to be about, and how the choreography fits, but, I think I understand.
She's showing how the paparazzi can bring down someone from on a high, to a crushing and deathly low (hence the blood). Maybe I'm beginning to appreciate new artistic talents in my old age, I don't know, but I LOVED this performance, and LOVE Lady Gaga. I'm not one for groups/bands, but enjoy just songs, but this girl has awesome songs, even for one who only has a couple albums out. I'm glad I can enjoy an artist at the beginning of her career, rather than discovering her in the middle and on the way out, like I do with many other bands.
May she continue to shock, amaze and make AWESOME music for us fans.
One of your "monsters", Gaga
