Pushing the Gods Aside

I have seen a small trend lately in which some people are willing to push aside the ancient Gods in favor of worshipping people as Gods.

Um...ok, what are people thinking??? I'm sorry, but as a Pagan Witch, I think I find this slightly insulting or offensive.

I enjoy numerous musical artists. I REALLY like Lady Gaga, she's very artistic and has awesome songs...BUT I'm not going to start worshipping her as a Goddess! That's almost stooping to the level of Christians worshipping Jesus as a God (a human who I believe was nothing more than a human raised to the level of a God by those who liked him enough).

I don't know, I just don't see worshipping Christina Agulera or Lady Gaga as Goddesses. They're very good musical artists (well...I prefer Gaga so much more over Agulera, but that's beside the point), but I DON'T see them worthy enough (at least for me) to be worshipped as a Goddess. It just seems wrong to me for some reason.

I'll stick to the ancients who earned their place in the Godhood, not because they're good musical artists.
