Sacred Texts

Many of us have our own personalized scriptures we adhere to regarding our beliefs and where they come from. Many stick to simplistic forms like the "Rede of the Wiccae" or other sacred texts. They help us when we face difficulty and help us to understand why things happen, and give us strength to continue on with such a difficult and under-accepted way of life.

I, like so many others, have my own little books of which I store my "sacred texts" in, as though it were my own personal "Ma'iingan's Bible". You can see an image of it above (It's a notebook sized book, black with embellishments I placed on it to make it more mine. I cheated with this one, I bought it as opposed to making it...sue me lol). It contains prayers...some personally written, others borrowed from internet sites, a creation story I loved when I began my path...and I am currently in the processes of transferring the "Pagan Scriptures" into it.

I feel this part brings the spirituality into my practice. Sure I'm a Witch, I participate in various "Witchy" things like herbcrafts, spell work, meditation, and some divination, but I am also spiritual (however not religious in my ways). Creating this book makes me feel closer to my Goddess. After I complete the "Pagan Scriptures" (of which I will post a link at the end of this if anyone wishes their own copy, I did not write it), I will add more prayers, those mostly dedicated to Hecate, my Goddess and Guide.

I think I'd urge those who are spiritual and follow a particular deity(s) create their own little personalized "Bible" and keep it close to them. I don't mean a Book of Shadows...this is a different sort of book (yes, prayers may be added to the BoS, but sometimes we just need a book of spirituality rather than a book of practicality). I urge this to those, especially on a similar path to mine, where they do not adhere to any particular religion, for the simple fact that it brings that spirituality much, much closer to you. Keep the God/esses close.

Blessings to you.
