Interpretation: Dreams vs. Tarot

I don't understand it. I have absolutely no problems interpreting other people's dreams for them. For example, I interpreted my husband's dream he had last night in which we bought a run down house that was falling apart, neglected. Every time he turned around, there was some sort of problem with the house, but when I turned around, I found some sort of valuable treasure. As I see it, he views himself as a pessimist, and me an optimist. Perhaps needing to find his own optimisim amongst his pessimism.

I also had little trouble interpreting this young woman's dream about devils and demons in a house...that demons indicate personal struggles and fights within...that each room can be representative of things/people/feelings within her life, etc

I have absolutely NO problems interpreting dreams, but when it comes to Tarot...I draw a complete blank!! Why is that??? As I see it there isn't much difference between tarot and dream interpretation, they all rely on symbolism. So why can't I interpret tarot symbols, but I can interpret dream symbols? It doesn't make sense!
