44 Days of Witchery: Day 21 - Your Favorite Scent

Your Favorite Scent

Hmm...my favorite scent. I have a lot of scents that I love. I love the smell of sage when it burns (unfortunately, my husband has breathing problems so burning things indoors is kind of a no-no (hence why I don't use incense anymore in ritual)). I generally burn sage outdoors when I am giving thanks to my Goddess.

I also love the smell of lavender. I love the sweet scent, when I catch a small whiff of it, I take a big sniff and I'm in heaven lol. I will sometimes burn an oil burner with a touch of lavender (hubby can handle a small amount of lavender oil burning, but not too much, and I tend to warm it when he's not home.

But I think my most favorite scent would have to be sweetgrass. I can always tell when it grows near or someone has just cut some...unfortunately I can never find it. Because it looks so much like other grasses AND grows amongst common lawn grasses, it can be quite difficult for me to find. I HAVE made attempts to find it, but all have come up unsuccessful.

Fortunately, I don't really have to harvest it on my own, considering I usually get a bundle of it from my mother at least once a year. I have a few braids of it in my room, in my chest of drawers, so it's not like I'm without. However, it too can only be burned outdoors, so as not to irritate my husband's chemically-induced Asthma.

Sometimes medical conditions can ruin a good thing. BUT...so long as he's comfortable, and not irritated, burning my favorite scents out doors is but a teeny sacrifice to ensure my husband remains healthy :)
