Know What Really Grinds my Gears???

I encountered the most interesting thing. 3 answers in ONE question that were condescending and almost condemning someone merely for asking a question about what Wicca is.

This poor person comes in, asking "What is Wicca?". She stated that she was interested for a while, but didn't really know what it was, so she asked some rather basic questions...how old do you have to be to join, is it dangerous, do you do spells, etc. (yeah, a little ignorant, but that's what you get from someone who doesn't really know about something, and wants to learn more).

3...answerers came in. 3 of them, telling her basically "If you don't know what Wicca is, then why would you want to be a part of it????????" Seriously?? What the hell is wrong with these people? Since when is it a crime to come in and ask what something is to get a better idea of what it REALLY is? Someone can't know what something is unless they ask. Being condescending like that is a sure fire way of getting people turned off of what they're interested in, simply because you make it out like they should know as much as you do at the point they're at.

Why is it so hard to just answer the questions?? Ya, you get the same questions ad nauseum, over and over again, but seriously? just answer the questions and move on. If it's too difficult to bite your tongue, then go on to a different question. It's not that difficult. Check the attitude, condescension, and high horse at the door before clicking "Answer Question". Some people don't need it!

Also, there's a BIG difference between constructive criticism, and badgering someone. Constructive criticism, someone can get information from and better their research. Telling someone that if they don't know what something is, they shouldn't be looking into it, is NOT constructive criticism, it's destructive.
