Patrons typically indicate (at least to me), a male deity (or deities). One's Patron God would could be whomever calls to them, say Zeus, Ares, Cernunnos, Jupiter, etc. A Matron deity would be a female deity, such as Hera, Diana, Juno, etc.
Personally I don't have a Patron deity because I have no male deity of whom I honor. I am strictly (at this point in my path) an honorer of only one, singular Goddess, though I am not a monotheist. Monotheism would indicate that I believe there is only one deity within the universe, and this is not true. While I choose to honor only one deity at this time, I believe there are a vast number of deities out there.
In all honesty this is perhaps the extent I can discusson "Patron" deities, FOR the fact that I have none.
