What I believe

For my first post I thought I would share with my readers (if any) what it is I believe, being a witch and all. It might be interesting to peek into the mind of a witch and see what it really is that a witch believes in...instead of relying on second-hand accounts from those who are biased (against) Witches.
GO TO THE SOURCE!!!

1)"Hexes" or "Curses": I don't practice the "art" of hexing or cursing...or at least I don't call it that. There are people out there who need a little push (or a hard one) when they do something wrong. I simply provide that push, whether or not I am in their presence or not. It may not always be pretty, but sometimes hard work isn't always pretty roses and champaign.

2) The Devil: I don't believe in this "character". I believe it was made as a scapegoat to blame problems on, rather than having the blamer take responsibility for their actions. It's easier to blame something that can't defend itself, than say "Yes, I did it" and accept the consequences. It's childish to me to blame someone else for what YOU consciously did. The devil didn't make you do anything, you did it on your own.

3) Conversion: I don't believe in converting anyone to my path. This is MY path...I walk it alone. There may be some who choose to walk a similar path, but their path is their own. I don't need to convert anyone to becoming a Witch. It seems that the ones really obsessed with converting is Christians (and I mean no offense when I talk about christians, they're just the easiest example I can come up with). They prey on the poor tribes found deep in the jungle and tell them that they are going to hell for believing in "false Gods" when their Gods were around before Christ. I feel bad for these poor tribes, who resort to killing their own people believing them to be posessed thanks to "missionaries" who bring this nonsense to them.

4) God: I personally believe in a Goddess and God. I often wondered (before coming to the path I am on now) if God was maybe a female or had some female aspects. I found wicca and it told me that there was both. It was refreshing to hear someone say that there IS a female God as well as a male God.

5) Initiation: Ah the debate over terminology...Initation vs. Dedication: Tit-for-Tat...they both basically mean the same thing. I don't believe I need to be initated/dedicated formally into my path as I know what I follow. Perhaps if I wasn't a solitary or was a member of a coven, I wouldn't mind so much, but to what benefit is it to me working by myself to have this fancy, formal dedication ceremony when there is no one but me around. It would make sense in a coven, I'd even want a major party afterwards to celebrate. But by myself...I know what path I walk...I've been walking it all my life (whether or not I believed it or not). Maybe someday I'll do some fancy-dancy ceremony for myself, I just don't see the need at this point.

6) "Skyclad": Ok, I don't see the need to be naked to perform rites or spells. I'm WAAYY too self-conscious to do something like that, especially alone. I have two young kids who are home most of the time anyways, and I don't believe it to be appropriate to be naked around them. That's just wrong on so many levels!!!!!

7) Blood: Blood should NOT be used to enhance spells, rituals, whatever. That's wrong. Blood is a gift of the Goddess and God to allow us to live...without blood we wouldn't live. To be irresponsible by using blood in spells is disrespectful not only to the sacred fluid of blood, but also to the Goddess and God!!

Questions? No? Good!
