Open Thoughts...(Thinking Out Loud)

Witchcraft now-a-days more focuses on the desire to be helpful. Though I don't believe this is too much different than it was centuries ago. I read people's views on Witchcraft in forums and Q&A sites, many of them believe that doing negative things is wrong. Sure, this is/can be true...one should really think though before acting to see if it's really necessary to do whatever negative thing we want to do.

I see a lot of people saying that a Witch never does wrong, never intentionally hurts anyone (and when I say Witch, I mean "WITCH"....not Wiccan, as they have their own rules or "guidelines" to follow when practicing). And today I guess it's how it should be because today we have more of a moral guideline than they did back then. They didn't think anything of cursing someone. If someone pissed you off, a Witch would curse you without a second thought. Today it seems that we think more before we act.

But my question is...does it REALLY need to be like that? Why can't we have the mentality that the ancients did? If we deem someone deserves a punishment...weren't we given the ability to dish out that punishment when we deem it fit? I mean if someone hurt me, my kids or husband...I don't think I'd give it a second thought to hurl a curse at them.

I believe in a Goddess...the Goddess Hecate...Goddess of Justice and Witchcraft. I read a story once...on the creation of the world. In which the "All" became two, and when they placed humans on the earth, they embued them with the ability to maintain humanity with what was called "Witchcraft". If a problem needed to be taken care of, the Witch would be the one to settle it with his/her craft. Why can't we now believe/act in this way? What do we have to be so moral in today's world? I mean it's bad enough that we all now have to be politically correct in everything we say, that a simple screw up can lead to people being sued over hate crimes. Our world's going to shit, and we as Witches seem to be going down with it. And the creation of Wicca is not helping things with their Wiccan Rede (no offense meant to the Wiccans, I believe their religion has it's beneficial points to it). Because they have no unified way of following it, it leads to confusion, in which some believe you must be pacifists, not hurting a single, solitary thing (which would mean you would have to become vegan), while other's view it as meaning you can hurt so long as it's in defense.

I don't know. I'm just thinking out loud. There could be beneficial aspects to living like the ancients, but because of todays morals...it's deemed no longer up to Witches to determine the course of a punishment, but to that of the Deities (if one chooses to believe in one) or governing bodies of that particular country.

***My random thoughts, not meaning any offense.***
