I finally had a good enough conversation with my husband...in which I left him speechless. Normally, when I get into a "conversation" with my husband regarding his beliefs, he's adamant that his are right.
This time I left him with nothing to say...he actually looked like he took what I said into consideration (FINALLY!!!)
He's the type of guy to say "Keep Christ in CHRISTmas". He HATES it when people come up to him and say "Happy Holidays". I think I set him straight this time (though I don't know how long it will last considering my neighbor and a good friend of mine and my husband, has the same mentality as my dear husband).
I told him flat out..."Christmas doesn't hold monopoly over December. There are more than ONE holidays in December, including Yule (yes, I included this one), Haunikkah, and Kwanzaa. For someone to say that those holidays cannot be acknowledge shows disrespect. If you want to say Merry Christmas, go ahead. But if someone comes up to you and says Happy Haunikkah, dont' give them a lecture on how this is the "CHRISTMAS SEASON" because it's the Haunikkah season too. Simply say Merry Christmas and move on."
Personally I have no issues either way. If someone says to me "Merry Christmas"...I'll either say it back to them, OR I'll say "You Too". Same with "Happy Holidays". I really don't care, because I'm not going to be disrespectful to those who may celebrate something completely different at this time of year.
CHRIST DOESN'T HOLD MONOPOLY OVER DECEMBER! Can we please move on???
