"One Does Not Need To Drink Poison To Know It's Deadly"

Mandi See posted, more or less a video response to someone who was stating essentially false information on Wicca (no big surprise there, I know) and the maker of the video responded in a comment that "one does not need to drink poison to know it's deadly", essentially saying that it's common sense that something like Wicca (of which he's been wrongfully informed on) is dangerous. He also went on to say metaphorically "one does not need to be a Communist to critique Communism".

No. One does not need to be a Communist to critique Communism, but one ALSO does not need to be Wiccan to criticize it either. What you DO need to be is PROPERLY educated. In the instance of the majority of Christian criticizers out there, they're educated by poorly educated Christians, writing their criticism based solely on other equally poorly educated sources. So, when someone uses bad resources not sourced from accurate material, you're not critiquing the genuine article, but the biased misinformation you've been given as a source.

If you want to criticize something, you need to go to the GENUINE source to criticize it. Take for example, "Wicca for Beinners" by Thea Sabin. Here is an example of a genuine book to use in your research to criticize the Wiccan religion. It tells you the history of the religion, aspects of Wiccan rituals, and what the ethics of the religion are. Instead, most Christians who criticize Wicca prefer to go to books like "Wicca: A Dangerous Religion" written by Pastor Joe Smith (<). They'd rather read books by Christians, who tell them further misinformation of Wicca, rather than read books by Wiccans themselves. I suppose perhaps it's so they don't contaminate themselves with "Satanic" material or something. But if you're going to criticize something, it may mean having to delve into those "Satanic" materials to learn further as to why the system should be avoided.
Reading books on Wicca by Christian authors is like reading a book on theoretical physics written by Gordon Ramsey (a chef).

My advice to anyone looking to criticize ANYTHING...read actual sources. Read books written by experts IN that area, not ones who hold biased opinions and use other biased opinions to critique something. That's not true criticism, that's just further bias.
